Abu Dhabi bets AED 13bn on an AI-native government by 2027
Abu Dhabi is using this week’s Ai Everything Abu Dhabi event at ADNEC to show how far its plan to become the world’s first fully AI-native government by 2027 has come. The emirate says more than 100 AI use cases are already live across more than 40 government entities, backed by an AED 13 billion (about US$3.54 billion) programme. The expo runs on 6 and 7 October 2026.
What happened
Abu Dhabi set the target in its Government Digital Strategy 2025-2027, published by the Abu Dhabi Media Office: every government entity working on one AI-driven platform, fully on sovereign cloud, with AI built into how services are delivered rather than bolted on.
Ai Everything Abu Dhabi is the shop window for that work. According to Gulf News and The National:
- More than 100 live AI use cases across Abu Dhabi’s public services, many of which are being shown at the event.
- More than 40 government entities brought into a single AI ecosystem, with more than 50 UAE government entities taking part in the summit.
- More than 180 speakers from 60 countries, including Mistral AI chief executive Arthur Mensch and Boston Dynamics founder Marc Raibert.
- More than 400 AI builders and 200 investors at the expo.
The strategy also says more than 95% of the government’s 30,000-plus employees have completed AI training, and that every entity now has a chief data and AI officer. Abu Dhabi’s TAMM platform, where residents and businesses already handle most government services, is central to the plan: the strategy describes services that anticipate what a customer needs and approvals that are processed faster with AI.
Why it matters
Most governments talk about AI pilots. Abu Dhabi is talking about production systems, with a deadline, a budget and a named platform. When the government side of a transaction runs on AI, the speed of a licence renewal, a permit or a compliance check stops being limited by how fast an office can process paper. It becomes limited by how fast the business on the other side can respond.
That shifts the bottleneck to companies. A government that can approve something in minutes will not wait days for a missing document, a late reply or a form filled in by hand.
What it means for UAE businesses
Three practical points for business owners in Abu Dhabi and the wider UAE:
- Keep your own records ready to move. Trade licences, staff visas, Emirates ID data and contracts should sit in one system with renewal dates tracked, not in a shared drive and someone’s memory.
- Automate the work around government services, not the services themselves. You cannot change how TAMM works, but you can automate reminders, document collection from staff and customers, and the internal approvals that come before a submission.
- Match the speed customers now expect. Residents who get a government answer in minutes will judge a private business that takes two days to reply to a WhatsApp enquiry. Fast, accurate replies are now the baseline.
This is the work our AI automation service covers: mapping where your team loses hours, then building the workflows and agents that close the gap.
